Lauren Brenner, PhD

Licensed Clinical Psychologist

Dr. Lauren Brenner is a licensed clinical psychologist and founder of Brenner Psychological Associates, providing telehealth services to adults across Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New York, and Vermont. She specializes in trauma, anxiety, moral injury, TBI, adjustment to medical concerns, and high-stakes occupational stress, with particular expertise supporting military service members, veterans, and Special Operations Forces (SOF). She brings nearly 15 years of combined clinical and research experience, blending evidence-based practice with operationally informed care. Dr. Brenner trained extensively within the VA Healthcare System, including predoctoral training at VA Boston, and previously served in clinical and leadership roles at the Home Base Program at Massachusetts General Hospital. She was Clinical Director of Brain Health Services and led the Comprehensive Brain Health and Trauma (ComBHaT) Program, a multidisciplinary evaluation program designed specifically for SOF service members and veterans. In this role, she conducted comprehensive psychological and brain health evaluations, provided outpatient therapy, and delivered daily treatment within a two-week Intensive Clinical Program (ICP) for individuals with complex trauma, traumatic brain injury, operational stress injuries, and other high-impact challenges. Dr. Brenner takes a compassionate but direct approach, emphasizing collaboration, authenticity, transparency, and values-driven healing. She works to connect on a human level while respecting the unique pressures and operational demands of the populations she serves. Therapies include Prolonged Exposure (PE), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and other structured, skills-based interventions. Dr. Brenner is a certified provider in CPT and PE as well as a certified PE consultant.
