Licensed Clinical Social Worker | Founder of Valor Healing

I’m Malissa, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a 10-year Air Force veteran. I spent my decade of service in Security Forces, with my final years assigned to AFSOC. During my time in, I lost far too many brothers and sisters to suicide. It forced me to ask the hard questions: why is this happening at such a high rate, and why isn’t more being done to stop it?

I realized that people don’t ask for help for very logical reasons. They’re worried about the stigma, the profiles that take away their weapons and deployability, and the damage to a reputation they worked years to build. To make matters worse, the help that is available often comes from well-meaning civilians who simply don’t speak our language or understand the weight of the life.

I knew the only way our community would truly seek help is if they could trust the person sitting across from them. That’s why I became a therapist. I quickly learned that the “check-box” approaches used in civilian models rarely get to the root of the problem or treat the whole person.

My practice focuses on the therapies that actually work, targeting the subconscious mind, the physical body, and the spirit. I specialize in trauma and relationships because in our world, those two things are always connected. If you’re ready for a different approach, please reach out for a complimentary 15-minute consultation at valorhealingtherapy.com.
