Michelle Weed LPC, CRC

Trauma Counselor

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Virginia, and a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, with more than six years of experience working directly with members of the Special Operations community. My work focuses on the realities many operators face after years of operational tempo, combat exposure, and cumulative stress. Specializing in PTS, moral injury, substance use, TBI, adjusting to disability, and MST.

Many of the people I work with are highly capable individuals who have spent their careers managing risk, carrying responsibility, and pushing through situations most people will never experience. When the mission slows down—or when the pace finally catches up—those experiences can begin to show up in ways that affect sleep, relationships, anger, focus, or overall quality of life. My role is to help address those injuries directly and effectively.

I use evidence-based trauma treatments including EMDR, Prolonged Exposure (PE), Adapted Exposure Modified, and cognitive-behavioral approaches designed specifically for combat and military-related trauma. Sessions are structured and goal-focused. When appropriate, I offer extended sessions ranging from 90 minutes up to two hours to allow deeper work and more efficient symptom reduction.

I also come to this work with a strong personal connection to the military community. I am a mil spouse (ret), a military mom, and the daughter of a service member. I understand the culture, language, and expectations that come with service, and I approach this work with respect for that experience.

With support from Tailwinds Ranch, the first six sessions are provided at no cost through their scholarship program, with the possibility of extension based on need.  Michelle@Tailwindsranch.org
