Joshua Edgington
Phase Two - Candidate
About Me
Josh is a husband and father of four who medically retired from the Army after more than 20 years of service, including 14 years on active duty as a Special Operations officer. Over the course of nine deployments across the Middle East and Africa, he supported sensitive activities and special mission units, spending much of his career working at the intersection of operations and intelligence in high-demand environments.
Years of sustained operational tempo, repeated deployments, and the cumulative weight of those experiences eventually began to surface in ways that could no longer be ignored. Walking through his own challenges with trauma, identity, and recovery gave Josh a deeper understanding of how many within the community face similar struggles, often without the space or support to address them.
That experience reshaped his path forward. Josh is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC), with a focus on trauma-informed care. He is particularly interested in alternative and emerging modalities that go beyond traditional approaches, with the goal of finding more effective ways to treat PTSD, operational stress, and co-occurring challenges within the special operations and veteran communities.
Josh is committed to helping others navigate their own path toward healing by combining lived experience with clinical training. Through the SOF Network Pipeline, he aims to be part of a broader effort to expand access to care, challenge stigma, and support lasting change for service members, veterans, and their families.
