Tim Beckman
Phase Two- Candidate
About Me
Tim is a retired Army Green Beret Team Sergeant with multiple operational tours spanning Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Balkans. He spent the last decade in Special Forces Tier 2 units, supporting Special Mission Units. He followed retirement with several years spent contracting in Iraq and Afghanistan.
After settling into his new life in North Carolina, Tim acquired his Doctoral Degrees while managing a large contract for State Department providing mentorship to African Peacekeeping forces in Zambia, Malawi, Kenya, Niger, Burkina Faso, and Ghana. With the governmental downsizing of this Spring, he is back in school working on his Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with Liberty University while practicing industrial medicine to retain currency. As a side hustle, he is active in Civil Air Patrol, CAPRAC, Team Rubicon, SMAT, and North Carolina Search and Rescue on a volunteer basis.
Tim grew up in a military family with five Vietnam vets and knows first-hand the impact of not getting the mental health care a veteran needs in times of crisis. His amazing wife is also a combat veteran and is pursuing a degree in Industrial and Organization Psychology. At this stage early in the journey, he is interested in EMDR, Narrative Therapy, SST, and telementalhealth. The challenges he, his wife, and his family faced in finding timely and effective care, for PTSD-related challenges, have been the inspiration for his new choice of career paths.
