Testimonials

“As a spouse of an active duty SOF operator, I would like to highly recommend Chris for personal counseling and/or marriage counseling. Prior to using Chris, my husband and I have tried multiple marriage counselors and psychologist, and none of them understood this unique community like Chris. I felt that the other counselors almost did more harm than good because they either did not understand the complications of being married to a SOF service member, or they had "hero worship" because of my husband's military background. Chris is the only counselor I have met who has educated himself on the SOF community, and how their background, deployments, trauma/PTS, and career goals impact the marital (and family) relationship. Using this education, Chris has framed things to me that have helped me relate to my husband.-

Chris will always tell me the truth to help me grow as a person, even if it is something that I may not want to hear. I am a better person and a better wife because of my therapy sessions with Chris. I have recommended Chris to other military spouses for marriage and/or personal counseling and they all said how much he has helped their marriage. Chris automatically "gets it" when working with this community, which is a rare find. If you decide to use Chris, you will not spend the first 3 sessions getting your counselor to understand how being married to a SOF operator is different than the average civilian marriage. Please do yourself a favor and meet with Chris if you are looking to find a knowledgeable provider that is truly invested in helping your marriage succeed.”

“Dr. Ostrander is incredibly talented and seems to have the voice for what combat veterans need to hear. He has been there for me in every step of my transition to civilian life, and has truly helped buffer the brutal realization of no longer being an active duty member of a special operations unit. His guidance and council has been a life saver and a marriage saver. He has not been there to give me a hug and tell me everything will be ok. He has been there to push me through the darkest times of my life and, to this day, challenges me to correct the behaviors that cause harm to my family.”

“Chris is the best in the business, an asymmetrical counselor for the unconventional warfighter and family. Helped us save our marriage and helped me save my career in a time where Tricare turned it’s back, he was there. A genuinely driven counselor that understands the unique stressors in the SOF community, we are blessed to have him as a resource and part of our inner trust circle. Thank You to Chris and his family, for investing so much into ours!”
