SOF Network is a national directory of licensed mental health providers that work with the special operations community and their families.
PURPOSE
This directory aims to be a central hub for the SOF community and their families in assisting them to locate trusted licensed mental health providers. SOF Network providers have been personally recommended by SOF members (active duty/retired) and or family members. These providers regularly work alongside SOF service members and their families in aiding them in all their mental and behavioral health needs.

Licensed Psychologist (CA)
Dr. Acre enlisted in into the U.S. Army in 1999 as a combat medic and later commissioned as an Army officer. While serving in the military he was deployed to Iraq (OIF) as a Combat Advisor, for the 1st Infantry Division in Baghdad, Iraq. Following his deployments and 15 years of military service he was honorably discharged and started pursuing his education in mental health.
In 2019 Dr. Acre graduated from the California School of Professional Psychology cum laude with a doctorate in clinical psychology. He has also conducted research that includes publications and presentations in trauma, veteran homelessness, Post-Traumatic Stress (PTS), substance use, sexual violence, child abuse, and posttraumatic growth. He previously trained in the VA medical system with experts in PTSD, moral injury, suicide prevention, substance use, outpatient general mental health, couples, and families.

Bill Anthes, LSW

Bill Anthes is a Special Forces Veteran and Licensed Social Worker. Bill works with clients from a trauma focused perspective while combining his vast knowledge and experience of fitness, nutrition, clinical therapeutic modalities and experience in high performance cultures from military to athletics. Bill partners with those who are experiencing symptoms of post-traumatic stress, substance abuse, relational and other lifestyle challenges.
After a successful college athletic career where Bill earned 1st Team All-America honors, he went on to work for PricewaterhouseCoopers in the NJ/NYC metro area. Bill left the world in pursuit of service and a higher calling, enlisting in the Army under the 18X program with hopes of becoming a Green Beret. Bill successfully completed the Special Forces Qualification Course and went to serve at 5th Special Forces Group as an 18C on a Military Free Fall team. Bill made the decision not to re-enlist and instead move home to live with his family in NJ whom he had spent his entire enlistment away from. In addition to providing therapy, Bill and his wife own and operate Between the Ears, a physical and mental fitness company.

Justin Ball retired in 2021 from 24 years on Active Duty in the US Army at the rank of Sergeant Major. Justin served in a variety of roles from 11B in the 75th Ranger Regiment to 18D Special Forces Medic at 1st SF Group. He served the majority of his career with a Special Mission Unit as a Senior Medic and a variety of Senior Enlisted leadership roles (Ft. Bragg, NC). In addition to working through his own mental health struggles, his experience working with soldiers and families in crisis led him to enter the mental health field. He graduated from THE Ohio State University with a Masters in Social Work with an emphasis in mental health and substance abuse treatment. Justin works for a local counseling practice providing clinical mental health in Moore County, NC for individuals and couples.

He has had the privilege of training Army Special Forces, Navy SEALs, US Marshals, and working closely with the DEA. Having spent 8 years serving in both Infantry and Tactical PSYOP units, Dr. Phil then established Alpha 6 Tactical Solutions, a private security contracting company that primarily employs SOF contractors for overseas operations.

Mark has a long-standing passion for understanding and supporting holistic health and human potential. A retired military psychologist and Air Force pilot, he oversaw the psychological health promotion mission in the Department of Defense’s Psychological Health Center of Excellence. Having refocused his career on psychedelic-assisted therapy, he completed the Center for Psychedelic Therapies and Research certificate program at the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) and trainings for multiple psychedelic-assisted psychotherapies and participated ethnobotany studies in Ecuador and Brazil.

He now runs a private practice, supporting the mental health goals of special operators, combat veterans and first responders. Chris received a Purple Heart during one of his 3 combat deployments from 2004-2008 as a Marine infantryman and team leader.

Her husband retired from the Marine Corps after 22 years of service. Leah began working in mental health in 2010, and earned her Master’s in Professional Counseling in 2015. She then began practicing in Fayetteville, NC, when her husband was a member of JSOC. She continued working as a clinician in 2019 after relocating to Jacksonville, NC, and they welcomed home two children through a domestic and international adoption. Doc Diego's latest endeavor is co-founding Critical Memory Integration (CMI) at the nonprofit Arise Alliance. CMI is an experiential embodied therapy that helps individuals address trauma without needing to re-experience painful memories. Instead, it focuses on the underlying critical experiences that network these memories together stalling the development of capacities to manage similarly stressful events. She is a certified EMDR provider and is currently pursuing advanced certification in the Gottman Method, having completed Level 3 training. She is the military spouse of a retired Airborne Army Ranger who served 23 years of Active Duty and a total of six combat deployments. After marrying her husband in 2007 she developed a passion for working with the military community, especially Veterans. She has worked in a variety of military settings to include the Army Substance Abuse Program at the Special Forces Clark Clinic at Ft. Bragg, NC, then in the same position at Ft. Leavenworth, KS. Dr. Jamie has also worked for Readjustment Counseling Services (aka "The Vet Center") in Jupiter, FL where she had the opportunity to work with combat vets from all eras. Military life moved her family back to the San Antonio Area where her husband finished out his career while working for Army South.

Dr. Sargent received his medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences and completed his specialty training in Psychiatry at Naval Medical Center San Diego. He has served in multiple operational commands to include work as a Flight Surgeon for Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron-267 and then deployment to Iraq in 2009 as the staff psychiatrist for 2nd Medical Battalion, USMC, Camp Al Taqqadum. Dr. Sargent was then selected by name as the first psychiatrist assigned within Naval Special Warfare and oversaw the delivery of mental health care for all West Coast SEALs and support staff. Following that assignment, he completed additional board certification in Brain Injury Medicine and was appointed as the Medical Director of the Intrepid Spirit Center at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton. There he led an interdisciplinary team of 50 health care professionals providing cutting edge TBI care to a population of 42,000 active-duty personnel.

Currently, Maddie focuses on working with individuals, couples, and families who are healing from addiction, trauma, grief, TBI, and the challenges of transitioning to civilian life after military service or deployments.

Jerry is a Retired Army Veteran and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Columbia, SC. Jerry and his wife Angela are both Marriage and Family therapist and founders of Foundations Family Life Counseling and Consulting (FFLCC). At FFLCC the focus is on healing, both individually and relationally. Jerry’s theory of therapy is based in Attachment Theory and he uses Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Solution Focused Therapy to help individuals and families regain control of their lives and restore hope.

Licensed Clinical Social Worker (VA, DC, MD), Certified Brian Injury Specialist Lisa is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Brain Injury Specialist with over 18+yrs combined experience providing counseling and support to the brain injury population, and 10yrs providing counseling to the military and SOF community. She is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) and is fully certified in EMDR. She holds licenses in MD, VA, and DC.
Lisa started her career in brain injury at Adventist Rehabilitation Hospital in Rockville, Md where she became a Certified Brain Injury Specialist (CBIS) and lead brain injury social worker for families and individuals. Because of her passion for this population, she became a member of Brain Injury Association of Maryland and served on the board.
Lisa also worked for the Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Clinic (DVBIC) and the National Intrepid Center of Excellence (NICoE) at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. Her experience at NICoE lead her to became part of the Preservation of the Force and Family Team (POTFF) where she was an embedded mental health provider within the SOF community in the Nation’s Capital.

She is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), currently completing her Ph.D. at William and Mary with a specialization in Post Traumatic Stress and Moral Injury. She is a graduate of the University of Kentucky with her Masters in Rehabilitation Counseling, Clinical Rehabilitation Mental Health Counseling.

Melissa, a proud alumna of Florida State University, holds a Master's Degree in Social Work. She is a compassionate professional with a wealth of experience. Her journey in service began as a medic in the United States Air Force. Over her 20-year career, she completed five deployments, providing critical medical support for multiple global operations.
Notably, Melissa leveraged her passion and expertise during her time as the Clinical Operations Manager at the prestigious Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) Medical Facility. Here, she had the unique opportunity to complete two internships with the JSOC behavioral health team, gaining a deep understanding of the challenges faced by Special Operations Forces (SOF).
