Luzimar Vega, Psy.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist (FL) who specializes in the treatment of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), anxiety, depression, grief, health behavior change, stress management, interpersonal difficulties, polytrauma, and the utilization of Evidenced Based Treatments (EBT) to address these concerns. She has several years of clinical experience working with outpatient populations, both in individual and group formats. During her time with the Department of Veteran Affairs she has obtained specialized training in Prolonged Exposure (PE), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Eye-Movement Sensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Interpersonal Therapy for Depression, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). She is also a regional trainer for the Cognitive Processing Therapy Initiative. While Dr. Vega has provided these services across populations, she specializes in providing these services to those with a military background in special operations.
Dr. Vega obtained her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University. She then completed internship with the Department of Veteran Affairs Healthcare System in Fargo, ND, followed by residency at the Level 1 Polytrauma Rehabilitation Center, The James A. Haley VA Hospital in Tampa, FL. During her training, Dr. Vega participated in research and training experiences with the Broward County Sheriff’s Office and the West Fargo Fire Department all with the aim of supporting first responders, veterans, and active duty service members.
