Jamie Howard, Ph.D., LMFT-S

Jamie Howard, PhD, LMFT-S has been in the mental health field for 24 years. She is the military spouse of a retired Airborne Army Ranger who served 23 years of Active Duty and a total of six combat deployments. After marrying her husband in 2007 she developed a passion for working with the military community, especially Veterans. She has worked in a variety of military settings to include the Army Substance Abuse Program at the Special Forces Clark Clinic at Ft. Bragg, NC, then in the same position at Ft. Leavenworth, KS. Dr. Jamie has also worked for Readjustment Counseling Services (aka "The Vet Center") in Jupiter, FL where she had the opportunity to work with combat vets from all eras. Military life moved her family back to the San Antonio Area where her husband finished out his career while working for Army South.

In October 2017, Dr. Jamie began working for Humana Military TRICARE as they prepared to take over the contract for the East Region in January 2018. It was there that Dr. Jamie became the "Tricare Whisperer" as she learned the ins and outs of the Tricare Policies. Due to missing direct patient care, Dr. Jamie started a private practice called Mission Ready Counseling, on the side in January 2019. Her practice kept growing with clients and providers, so she made the decision to leave her full-time position at Humana Military TRICARE in January 2020 to focus on growing her practice.

Her practice now has a total of six clinicians, four retired military spouses, one Navy Veteran, and one ADSM spouse. Dr. Jamie loves that everyone who works with her practice is part of the military community. Everyone must speak sarcasm and use inappropriate humor, or they wouldn't be able to survive working with her or the military community!
